El periodista Jonathan Castro, productor general de La Encerrona, ha sido citado de manera “muy urgente” por el Segundo Despacho de la Primera Fiscalía Provincial Corporativa Especializada en Delitos de Corrupción de Funcionarios.
En declaraciones a la Oficina de Derechos Humanos de la Asociación Nacional de Periodistas del Perú (ANP), Castro señaló que la diligencia está programada para este miércoles 11 de febrero a las 9:00 de la mañana.
El periodista señaló su extrañeza por la forma de la notificación, la cual fue depositada bajo la puerta de un domicilio que ya no figura en su DNI desde hace un tiempo.
Según la Cédula de Citación N° 00001-2026, la fiscal Fanny Mendoza García requiere a Castro en calidad de testigo dentro de una investigación sobre la presunta falsificación de carnés de vacunación contra la COVID-19, caso que el periodista reveló en diciembre de 2021.
La Fiscalía buscaría recabar su declaración testimonial para indagar sobre el contacto que el periodista mantuvo con un tercero para acceder al grupo de Telegram donde se comercializaban los documentos falsos.
El documento enfatiza que la presencia del periodista es obligatoria, indicando que se procede “bajo apercibimiento de disponer su conducción compulsiva, en caso de concurrencia injustificada”, de acuerdo al artículo 66° del Código Procesal Penal.
El periodista manifestó que ya había facilitado información previa por correo electrónico a los meses de la revelación, señalando su malestar por este nuevo requerimiento.
La Asociación Nacional de Periodistas del Perú – ANP reafirma que el secreto profesional de las y los periodistas es un derecho fundamental y una garantía para la libertad de información, reconocido por la Constitución y los estándares internacionales de derechos humanos.
Ningún operador de justicia puede obligar a un periodista a revelar la identidad de sus fuentes ni los mecanismos mediante los cuales accedió a información de interés público, pues hacerlo no solo vulnera su derecho al secreto profesional, sino que sienta un grave precedente de amedrentamiento y desaliento al periodismo de investigación.
El Ministerio Público y el conjunto del sistema de justicia están obligados a respetar estos principios y a desarrollar sus investigaciones sin trasladar a la prensa responsabilidades que le corresponden exclusivamente al Estado.
