ANP registró 352 ataques a la libertad de prensa en el 2023, cifra récord en el siglo XXI

En el 2023 se produjeron 352 ataques a periodistas y medios de comunicación, según reporte de la Oficina de Derechos Humanos del Periodista (OFIP) de la Asociación Nacional de Periodistas del Perú (ANP). Esta es la mayor cifra registrada en lo que va del presente siglo, seguida por los récords del 2022 (303 casos) 2020 (239) y 2007 (212).
Un año que inició con dos meses de álgida movilización social, el mes de enero registró el mayor número de agresiones (102 casos). Entre los más graves, el impacto de perdigón en la pierna derecha al fotoperiodista de la agencia Efe, Aldair Mejía, en los alrededores del aeropuerto de Juliaca y la detención de cuatro periodistas regionales durante la irrupción en la Universidad Mayor de San Marcos. Los meses de julio (36 casos) y diciembre con 34 casos (buen porcentaje de ellos registrados en Trujillo, por seguidores del alcalde provincial Arturo Fernández contra la prensa).
El ataque contra periodistas con mayor incidencia por segundo año consecutivo fue la amenaza / hostigamiento, con 138 casos registrados; le sigue la agresión física y verbal con 127. Las trabas de acceso a la información y cobertura periodística con 25 casos constituyen la tercera afectación.
También fueron registrados discursos estigmatizantes (14), intimidación judicial (10), detenciones (8), afectación laboral (9), robo (9), amenaza legislativa (6), tentativas de homicidio (3) y ciberacoso (3).
Mención especial requieren las 6 amenazas legislativas registradas durante el 2023, entre ellas la insistencia en leyes mordaza (del congresista Segundo Montalvo, de Perú Libre, que pretende elevar penas por difamación) y la penalización de la difusión de informaciones de investigaciones fiscales o procesos penales.
Datos para el análisis:
En el 2023 los civiles fueron los principales agresores contra periodistas, habiendo propiciado 136 incidencias; seguidos están las fuerzas del orden – agentes de seguridad (serenazgo / vigilante) con 106 y los funcionarios con 73 casos. También se registraron 28 ataques de elementos no identificados y 9 de empleadores.
En otras cifras, el ataque según el medio ubica en primer lugar a la prensa digital (162), seguida por los medios del periodismo tradicional como son la prensa televisiva (93), radial (56) y escrita (41).
En cuanto al ataque según el género o medio, los periodistas más atacados este año fueron los hombres (206), las mujeres periodistas (83) y los medios de comunicación (63).
Lima mantiene su récord histórico liderando el registro, esta vez con 208 ataques. Le sigue Trujillo con 19, Tacna con 11 y San Román 10.
