Esta actividad fue organizada por la sede en Perú de la Organización de las Naciones Unidas para la Educación, la Ciencia y la Cultura (UNESCO) y la Oficina del Alto Comisionado de Naciones Unidas para los Derechos Humanos (OACNUDH).
Junto a la ANP, fueron convocados -para compartir la situación actual del los hombres y mujeres de prensa, la libertad de expresión, y propuestas de mejora a la misma- representantes del Instituto Prensa y Sociedad (IPYS), Defensoría del Pueblo, Ministerio del Interior, Ministerio de Justicia y Derechos Humanos, Ministerio Público – Fiscalía de la Nación y Poder Judicial.
Desde la Asociación Nacional de Periodistas del Perú saludamos que la comunidad internacional en nuestro país genere estos espacios de diálogo que sirven para discutir la urgente agenda de protección al derecho de libertad de expresión y la necesidad de protección de periodistas; asimismo, consideramos esencial que las instituciones del Estado dialoguen, tengan capacidad de autocrítica y asuman compromisos para cumplir diligentemente su deber de generar políticas públicas orientadas a garantizar la seguridad de las y los periodistas.
