Hoy, 5 de abril, recordamos un nefasto episodio en la historia de Perú: el autogolpe de estado dado por Alberto Fujimori en 1992. Hoy, al igual que aquel infausto día, la Asociación Nacional de Periodistas del Perú, rechaza enérgicamente este acto antidemocrático que no solo aniquiló la institucionalidad del país sino que, de manera particular, buscó silenciar la voz de la prensa.
Aquel triste día, nuestros colegas periodistas enfrentaron una situación difícil cuando miembros del Ejército ingresaron a las redacciones para ejercer censura o tanques fueron puestos al ingreso de sedes de instituciones como la nuestra, en un intento de intimidarnos. Sin embargo, no nos dejamos amedrentar ayer ni hoy.
Han pasado más de tres décadas desde aquel nefasto 5 de abril de 1992, pero el recuerdo de ese día oscuro en la historia de nuestro país sigue vivo en nuestra memoria.
En este día, reafirmamos nuestro compromiso de seguir luchando por la defensa de la libertad de expresión y la democracia en Perú. No permitiremos que se repitan episodios como el autogolpe de 1992 y continuaremos trabajando para promover un periodismo independiente, ético y comprometido con el bienestar de nuestra sociedad.
